ABOUT

The War Remnants Museum focuses on researching, collecting, preserving, and displaying evidence of crimes and consequences of wars of invasion in Vietnam.
In early 2023, the museum expanded its reach by opening a branch in Sacramento, USA. The goal is to facilitate a better understanding of the war for local citizens, especially Viet Kieu community, eliminating the need to travel to Vietnam. The Museum aims to raise awareness against unjust wars, promoting peace, solidarity, and friendship among people worldwide.

CONCEPT

"Rapid Deployment" - The resistance of the Vietnamese military unfolded across multiple fronts, including land, sea, and air. Given the intensity of the conflict, the deployment of various branches necessitated flexibility, assembling forces for coordinated offensives and, at times, strategically dividing units for guerrilla warfare. The motto 'Swift, swifter, audacious, more audacious, seize every hour, every minute, advance to the front lines, liberate the South. Resolve, victory in totality' (‘Thần tốc, thần tốc hơn nữa, táo bạo, táo bạo hơn nữa, tranh thủ từng phút, từng giờ, xốc tới mặt trận, giải phóng miền Nam. Quyết chiến và toàn thắng’) served as a key to ultimate triumph and the liberation of the Vietnamese nation. The brand identity reflects the dynamic, decisive, and solidarity spirit inherent in the military operations of the Vietnam Army during the war.
LOGO

The typographic logo features a single letter 'W,' serving as the acronym for the War Remnants Museum. This 'W' signifies 'Win' and incorporates two 'V' shapes, symbolizing Vietnam and Victory. Aligned with the concept of 'Rapid Deployment,' the logo is composed of four tilted geometric shapes standing in solidarity, evoking a dynamic sense of movement and military stationing.
DESIGN

Based on the logo's structure, I form a set of lively continuous patterns that evoke military deployment while also symbolizing the brand's mission to spread friendship and peace worldwide.
